Tunnel

Tunnels

Tunnel construction is one of the most interesting and also one of the most difficult challenges in civil engineering. Tunnel construction must fulfil stringent demands in terms of strength, durability and impermeability to resist ground water pressure and to ensure the structure is permanently watertight. Therefore if required, the use of reliable and durable injection systems with proven track records are essential in any tunnelling project.


Objectives

  • Injection and grouting materials to provide stabilisation and waterproofing of the ground material for the TBM (Tunnel Boring Machines) cutting head and drilling process.

Our Solutions

MC-Injekt 2700 stops pressurised water reliably during the construction of the start shaft and simultaneously stabilises the soil. Sealing the contact area of a TBM (Tunnel Boring Machine) between shaft and subsoil can be ensured by building a sealing ring with MC-Injekt GL-95. This tunnel sealing also saves time and money if the downtime of the TBM is minimised. MC-Injekt 2300 top is used for concrete, when the ingress of water and pollutants must be prevented permanently. The special hydro-structural resin MC-Injekt GL-95 TX is a proven technology in retro sealing of voids, cracks and joints in structures, concrete segments or in-situ elements. The flexibility and swelling properties meet the highest demands in terms of penetration and permanent sealing requirements.


Bridge

Bridges

Whether made from pre-stressed concrete, reinforced concrete, compressed concrete, natural stone or masonry, bridges are an important part of infrastructure. Increasing traffic volumes, higher axle load limits and aggressive environmental stresses put heavy operational demands on the structure. The protection and reinforcement of bridges are therefore important tasks for which MC injection systems provide innovative solutions.

Our Solutions

Force transmitting injection or structural injection works on load bearing components made from pre-stressed and reinforced concrete under both tension and compression, can be executed safely using MC-Injekt 1264 TF a structural epoxy resin. This low-viscose duromer resin reaches the injection target even when under the influence of dynamic loading. Static cracks and larger cavities are injected with Centricrete UF a cement suspension grout. This suspension has the typical properties associated with cement based products and is particularly suitable for reinforced concrete and URM brickwork. For flexible sealing of cracks, joints or cavities to restore functionality and durability MC-Injekt 2300 top a flexible polyurethane is used. The re-establishment of water tightness can be solved optimally using this elastomer resin. Dampness and water seepage over wide areas of old bridges made of masonry or newer structures made of concrete can be sealed effectively with a hydro-structure gel resin called MC-Injekt GL-95. Waterproofing of the structure can also be performed by injecting the surrounding subsoil with a hydro-structure resin.


Road

Roads & Slabs

Concrete roads and slab experience high dynamic loads and chemical stress such as petrol, oil, or de-icing chemicals etc. Concrete surfaces can only withstand such high stresses if the allowable crack widths fall within the design criteria. Individual concrete slabs have to be even and stable in order to transfer the traffic loads into the sub-grade material.

Our Solutions

Force transmitting (structural injection) and sealing injection works on load-bearing concrete slabs made from pre-stressed and reinforced concrete under both tension and compression, can be injected safely using MC-Injekt 1264 TF structural epoxy resin. Dowel bars, shear connectors and similar fixing elements can also be permanently bonded to the concrete with this duromer (epoxy) resin. A particular advantage of MC-Injekt 1264 TF resin is its performance when curing even under dynamic loads. For flexible sealing of cracks or cavities to protect against ingress of pollutants MC-Injekt 2300 top is used. For the injection of voids and static cracks in concrete slabs Centricrete UF a cement suspension material is ideal as it strengthens the concrete with a similar product as the hoist material. Rocking slabs on unstable foundations or sub-grade can quickly be stabilised with MC-Injekt 2700. Further injection with MC-Injekt 2700 beneath the concrete slab, can also be used for levelling by under pinning or slab jacking methods providing a firm load bearing surface.

Our Solutions

The proven reliability of MC-Injekt 2700 a duromer polyurethane injection material with its adjustable setting time, stops high pressure water ingress and at the same time stabilises the surrounding sub-grade material. If cracks and voids are present in the construction material MC-Injekt 2300 top is used to prevent penetration. To prevent water ingress under pressure which is often found in leaking dam structures MC-Injekt 2300 top is used in conjunction with the foaming elastomer MC-Injekt 2033. For sealing of expansion joints the hydro-structural resin MC-Injekt GL-95 TX has had worldwide success. A rapid and controllable reaction time plus excellent injection properties form the basis of the products effectiveness. These injection products are non-toxic, non-hazardous and are certified as being suitable for use in contact with potable and ground water.


Drinking Water Structure

Drinking water, is our most valuable resource, and must be protected from contamination during its treatment, transportation and storage. Therefore injection products which come into contact with drinking water must meet the functional requirements to be safe, stable and waterproof.

Our Solutions

Classical tasks of concrete injection in terms of sealing potable water reservoirs are achieved safely with the powerful elastomer polyurethane resin MC-Injekt 2300 top. The injection parameters of this resin are excellent. The highly elastic reactive resin has been certified for use in contact with drinking water. MC-Injekt GL-95 hydro structure gel is an equally suitable injection system for drinking water, groundwater and soil. It therefore provides the solution for hygienically and technically safe two dimensional external waterproofing. In exceptional cases where the foundation has become unstable due to flowing water or ground settlement, MC-Injekt 2700 duromer polyurethane offers a quick and permanent solution. This sealing, and at the same time reinforcing resin, also meets the high demands that are required from repair systems used in areas which come in contact with drinking water, groundwater or the soil.


Wastewater Treatment Plant

Wastewater Treatment Plants

Long service life, under conditions of high mechanical and chemical loads, is a requirement for structures in the waste water sector. This requirement can only be fulfilled with regular maintenance and repair activities. The highly elastic reaction resin has the chemical resistance needed in typical waste water environments. For injection of brickwork structures MC-Injekt GL-95 hydro-structure gel offers an interesting alternative to seal URM. Even the finest capillaries can be sealed with this particularly low viscose hydro-structural resin. In the exceptional case that the foundation has become unstable, MC-Injekt 2700 a duromer polyurethane offers a quick and durable solution. This duromer resin seals and strengthens at the same time. All these injection systems fulfil the requirements for injection products that cure in contact with groundwater and subsoil.

Force transmitting or structural injection works on load bearing components made from pre-stressed and reinforced concrete under both, tension and compression, can be executed safely using MC-Injekt 1264 TF duromer structural epoxy resin. As a result, the stability and durability of structures is restored. If water is negatively affecting the durability and functionality of structures, MC-Injekt 2300 top elastomer flexible polyurethane is used to prevent pollutants from infiltrating the reinforced concrete. MC-Injekt GL-95 TX hydro-structure gel can be used for subsequent sealing of leaking joint details, whereas MC-Injekt GL-95; also a hydro-structure gel, is used to eliminate water and moisture ingress behind a basement. This is achieved by forming a new membrane injected into the subsoil from the interior side of the structure. A foundation with insufficient bearing capacity can be stabilised by using MC-Injekt 2700; a duromer polyurethane resin. Should the stabilising of a fine grained media subsoil be required, then a product with a much lower viscosity (similar to that of water) such as MC-Injekt TS-07; a structural grade hydro-structure resin is required. MC-Injekt TS-07 can also be used in order to increase the load bearing capacity of masonry structures.


Industrial Structures

Industrial Structures

Industrial buildings are planned and built for intensive use with minimal down time. Industrial floor slabs are subjected to the highest stresses. Cracks and voids in the slabs or in other concrete elements are not acceptable, should they occur a remedy must be found quickly, safely and without interfering with ongoing operations. Injection technologies are an efficient remedy for this key repair task.


Objectives

  • Force transmitting or structural filling of cracks and cavities in load bearing concrete slabs or other construction elements such as columns, beams and walls.

  • Sealing of cracks, joints and cavities in external components preventing water penetration.

  • Bonding of dowel bars in transverse construction joints and concrete connections.

Our Solutions

Structural and sealing injection works on load bearing components made from pre-stressed and reinforced concrete under both tension and compression, can be successfully repaired by using MC-Injekt 1264 TF duromer epoxy injection resin. This low viscosity duromer resin cures even under the influence of dynamic loading. Furthermore, steel components can also be fixed to the concrete using this epoxy resin material. Centricrete UF is suitable for the injection of cracks and voids in concrete which are under compression, this cement suspension strengthens the structural concrete elements with a product that has similar properties to that of its host material, this cement based injection material also allows the crack repair to blend into its surroundings.
Rocking concrete slabs which require securing that have insufficient bearing capacity can be stabilised and levelled by using MC-Injekt 2700; a duromer polyurethane resin. Should the stabilising of a fine grained media subsoil be required, then a product with a much lower viscosity (similar to that of water) such as MC-Injekt TS-07; a structural grade hydro-structure resin is required.


Construction Site

Retaining Walls and Foundations

The excavation of ground materials for the construction of underground structures often encounter water ingress, and ground stabilisation problems. Sudden water ingress into these areas requires immediate action to prevent delays to the progress of the project and avoid expensive dewatering programme. Other consequences such as settlement of the surrounding ground or adjacent structures can also be avoided or at least minimised. Ground movement or changing groundwater levels frequently lead to cracks and water damage in existing buildings. To resolve these problems an injection technique tailored to the individual project requirements provides a successful solution.


Objectives

  • Subsequent sealing the anchor head or pile cap.

Our Solutions

Bored pile walls, diaphragm walls, slotted walls, secant piles and sheet piles are the main areas of application for injection technologies in respect of strengthening and sealing. Particular solutions using special injection resins has to be tailored individually according to the specific conditions at different sites. The product system MC-Injekt 2700 duromer polyurethane is an adjustable system which can fulfil a variety of different requirements. Through the use of additives MC-KAT 27, MC-Additiv ST and MC-Additiv FS, the resin can be optimised to the given task. The diversity of possible modifications enables you to simultaneously seal and strengthen subsoil, building pits and structures using just one system. Fine grained subsoil which is not injectable using other injection materials can still be strengthened using MC-Injekt TS-07 a structural grade hydro-structure gel capable of bonding fine media.
